Beginning to end, this was a perfect meal. Every single dish had something surprising and delightful about it, while still staying wonderfully grounded. (We had the hamachi, ceviche, octopus, sweet potato, and the market fish, which was grouper.) The tortillas alone were worth writing home about. I’ve had a lot of excellent food—and a lot of really excellent Mexican food—and this one is easily in my top meals ever. Every detail is thought through. The space is gorgeous—the high tops have the best view of the open kitchen, btw—and the service was excellent. The hostess was gracious about our last minute reservation, and our main server, Amanda, gave genuine recommendations and took care of us in the very best sense of that phrase, and everyone else who came by our table was great. There are only two desserts on the menu for a reason. We usually just split one, but everything had been so good that we got both, and it was the right choice. If you prefer your food unseasoned or you think “tweezer food” is an insult—don’t go. This isn’t for you. There’s a Dave and Buster’s downtown that’ll suit you fine. Otherwise: go immediately.

Best dinner I’ve had in ages. Everything was really delicious. Highlights were the scallop ceviche (could have eaten a gallon!), the octopus and the blackened flounder, but it was all fabulous. Awesome service and great cocktails too. Do not sleep on this place.

The uniquely designed interior makes Acamaya an oasis in the Bywater, enhanced by quite the mysterious menu (which necessitated a Glossary). For cocktails; El Chamuco, Chico Colada and El Pastore Swizzle #2, all well-crafted. Cold Menu: Oysters, Caviar & Gorditas, Ceviche, Crab Sope and Bluefin Tostada. I liked the Ceviche and Bluefin Tostada best, but only a slight edge as all were very unique to one another. Hot menu: Chochoyotes, Black Beans, Carne Asada and Blackened Flounder. I liked the flounder the best. The Carne Asada was flavorless. Needs work. The Chochoyotes was a thing of beauty, my favorite thing on the menu. Dessert: Flan (quite rich, 2 can share) Pineapple soft serve (wonderfully bright and unique flavor), Masa Tres Leches (also very unique in texture and flavor).

Amazing food! This was a great find and I’m definitely coming back. Food was so tasty and amazing and service was great. My favorite dish was the chochoyotes, which was a hot crab dish. Dessert was hella tasty too, the maza tres leches was a good mix of corn flavor and caramel. Make a reservation if you can.

The food was fantastic and the service was great! I think that blackened flounder might actually be one of the best things I've ever eaten. The other small dishes were also great, but the flounder was mind blowing. At the end of the night, the cafe de la Hoya was a perfect treat, but the masa tres leches had a weird texture to me. That being said, the masa tres leches was very good, it just was not like any other tres leches I've had.

Everything we ate was delicious and every dish had a unique flavor! I particularly loved the dessert (we had the flan, tres leches, and ice cream). The flan was so creamy, I’ve genuinely never had one with such a good texture. The tortilla and butter was another standout along with the cucumbers, octopus, tostada, and rice!! P.S. the soap in the bathroom smells amazing.

The food was very creative and delicious. We enjoyed everything we ate. The drinks were 4.8 stars. Service was excellent, very attentive and took time to explain the menu to us.
